My Okinawa Photos
I start off with a photo of Okinawa I bought from the PX. I have circled Sukiran Army Base where I lived and worked; I also have marked Naha, the Capitol, and Kadena, where the Air Force Base is. Okinawa is a beautiful island, and the people, a mixture of Chinese, Japanese, native Okinawans, and Americans, were always friendly to me. I took a bus trip around the southern part of the island on my free time and took photos (all lost).
Here I am "off-duty" but still on base.
Here is one of the offset presses I kept running. There were several kinds and sizes.
I took a photo of Okinawans demonstrating in Naha in regard to whom they wanted to belong: the United States or Japan.
Here are the guys I worked with - mostly printer operators. I'm on the far left, waving.
After I got my unexpected promotion, I am relaxing in my office. The photo is signed for my fiancee, who became my first wife after I returned to the States. |
