Ernie was born in Salem, Oregon, about nine and a
half months after his mother and I were married. He was named after his
mother's father, but his middle name was the same as my father's first
name, so he carries the first names of both of his grandfathers. When he
was two, I moved out because I figured the arguments his mother and I were
having were not good for him, let alone us.
At first, I had problems getting my regular
visitation, but later, there were opportunities for me to see him more often.
When his mother went to California to be with her mother as she was dying,
Ernie stayed with me and Jane for a while. I got him started with computers.
He worked with a movie crew making sets in
Eastern Oregon for a movie called, "The Four Diamonds", which I have yet to
see. It has not been released to the public, though I understand it has been
shown on the Disney channel.
He is an artist (he used to draw
Transformers when he was young) and a musician (plays a keyboard and has been
in a marching band).
He has surpassed me in his computer
knowledge and is currently working with Supra, a subsidiary of General
Electric.
He lives in a house he shares with several
other people in Salem, Oregon. For pets, they have ferrets, cats, fish, and a
dog.
His mother also lives here in Portland and
he gets up here once in a while to visit us.
