July 1, 2010, Thursday,
I got up at 7:50 am. For breakfast, I had an egg over easy on a slice of French toast, a banana, applesauce, and orange juice. I sang karaoke in my room. I checked my online messages. I watched "U-571". Ed showed up at 11 am. We watched "8 Below" and "Burn Notice". Ed left at 5 pm. For supper I had Jo-jo's, fish filets, coleslaw, cake, and ice cream. I watched "NCIS", "Bones". I checked my online messages. My daughter wrote the following, which made me feel good, on Sodahead:
"I still have questions, and I've gone to the same church my whole life lol. I think what settled it for me was that I couldn't imagine myself in another church (I've visited a couple others), and because of how strong my dad feels about the church with what he's experienced. And I know he wouldn't lie about it."

I got up at 5:35 am. I checked my bank account and found my Social Security Disability had been deposited as expected. I wrote checks to my Church, for my room & board, and to S.P.D. I added 4 hours of minutes to my TracFone account for $29.99. I checked my online messages. I ordered a refurbished DVD/VHS Player from Amazon.com, which should be delivered within ten days. I packed and dressed for Elderplace. For breakfast, I had an egg sandwich, a banana, puffed wheat cereal with cinnamon and milk, and orange juice. I shaved. I went out in front of Lois' place to wait for the bus. Lance picked us up about 8:55 am. When I got there, my weight was 310.6 lbs and my blood pressure was 142/72. I fetched Bibles from the library and one from the Columbia Room for the Bible Study. I went to the McKenzie Room and had a cup of cocoa. Then we had the Bible Study in the Deschutes Room. There were four of us this time. We studied the first half of Matthew Chapter 9. I sang karaoke from my own CDs in the Sandy Room. I had the breaded fish for lunch. I went out front to wait for Becca's bus to arrive. She pulled in at 1:10 pm. She loaded a couple of women before me, and a man after me. The mand was upset and warning of God's wrath for not leaving him alone. I got out my "Highway Hymns" hymnbook and began singing. He became quiet and stayed that way the whole trip as I sang hymn after hymn. When Becca got to my place, she thanked me for the singing. She said the man had a smile on his face as she took him off. Becca got me home by 2:15 pm. Ed was waiting for me. We watched "The Adventures of Merlin" on TV. I checked my online messages. For supper, I had Salisbury steak, corn, mashed potatoes with gravy, carrot cake, a banana, and orange juice. Ed and I continued watching "Merlin". Ed left at 7 pm. I continued watching "Merlin".

July 3, 2010, Saturday, Dog Days begin,
I got up at 6:00 am. I checked my online messages. I ate a cheesy bread roll. I dressed and packed for the Flag Raising. Larry picked me up at 7:30 am. The Flag Raising was great. A Boy Scout color guard unfolded and presented the flag. They raised it and we all saluted to the Star-spangled Banner. There were two patriotic talks and a choir number, "God Bless America", Then we all sang "America, the Beautiful". Then we had breakfast with pancakes, sausages, scrambled eggs, orange juice, and little donuts. Two winners of the "Why I Love America" essay contest read their essays as we finished eating. I took lots of photos. Larry brought me home at 10:15 am. He went back to the church to clean the church building while others went to various service projects until noon. I sang karaoke for a while. I copied my photos to the computer. For lunch, I had a fish sandwich, cake, and orange juice. I began rearranging my room. I moved the black cabinet, the small bookshelves, the TV. and the bed. For supper, I had a large chicken drumstick, broccoli, macaroni and cheese, cake, ice cream, and orange juice. I rebuilt the large bookshelves and hooked up the computer again using the old monitor, temporarily. I put the bedding back on the bed. I checked my online messages. I watched "As Time Goes By", "My Family", and "New Tricks".

July 4, 2010, Sunday, Independence Day,
I got up at 7:50 am. I took photos of my room. For breakfast, I had an egg sandwich, corned beef hash, applesauce, two doughnut holes, and orange juice. I checked my online messages. I found they had updated the Ward boundaries online. For lunch, I had two hot dogs in a hoagie roll, dill pickle, potato salad, and apple wedges. I shaved, dressed, and packed for Church. Larry picked me up at 1:30 pm. I bore my testimony in Testimony meeting. I walked from the back of the chapel to the front and back again to my wheelchair to do so. Sunday School was about David's great sins. At 4 pm my blood sugar was 76. I took my meds and ate a couple of bites of the cheesy bread before noticing it had moldy spots on it. In High Priest Group, I was set apart as a Quorum Instructor by Larry speaking for the Presidency. I was given my Home Teaching assignments: 6 households. I bore my testimony again in the Quorum. Larry got me home by 5:30 pm. He will be out of town Tuesday and next Sunday. My blood sugar was 98. For supper, I had a cupcake, some variety of chili, and ice cream. I caught up my web journal. I checked my online messages. I watched "Greatest American Hero". Elaine finally made it onto Facebook. I took a photo of my home teaching assignments and emailed it to my home teaching companion with my schedule. I added my home teaching families to my cell phone contacts list with their numbers and addresses. The neighborhood fireworks started in earnest at 9:30 pm. I watched the Fort Vancouver fireworks on TV.

July 5, 2010, Monday,
I got up at 7:25 am. I checked my online messages. For breakfast, I had an egg sandwich, puffed wheat with milk, a banana, and orange juice. I listened to AM radio. Ed showed up at 10:40 am. Elaine got on Windows Messenger, but we were unable to set up a video call. Ed and I watched FOX News. For lunch I had a BLT sandwich, potato salad, cookies, and orange juice. I installed Corel Photo Album 6 software that Andy gave me. I got ready for my podiatrist appointment.Ed left at 2 pm and I went out on the porch to wait for my ride. I took photos of flowers and airplanes. They were supposed to pick me up at 2:15 pm, but though I waited until 3:30 pm, no one showed up. The sun shone through off and on and it was pleasant enough. I copied my photos to the computer. I moved my printer to the shelves next to my bed. I raised my TV by about 9 ". For supper, I had cake, chili, and watermelon. I watched "The O'Reilly Factor". I cleaned up the stuff in the middle of the floor of my room and organized my closet (somewhat). I figured out how to start a video call on Messenger but Elaine did not answer. I checked my online messages. I watched "NCIS". I tried the video call a couple more times until Elaine went offline. I watched "Bones". Elaine contacted me by IM - she was talking to her brother on the phone. I will try another Voice Call tomorrow night at 7 pm.

July 6, 2010, Tuesday,
I got up at 7:30 am. I checked my online messages. For breakfast, I had an egg sandwich, oatmeal with milk, an apple turnover, and orange juice. I shaved, packed, and dressed for the temple. I moved my clock and hung it over the closet. I went out front, waited for my ride, and took photos. Steve picked me up and then picked up Andy. We got to the temple about 10:30 am. I changed into my temple clothing, got a name, and went to the chapel to wait for the session. Steve took me up in the elevator to Room 2. There were 36 patrons: 15 men and 21 women. There were a few going through for the first time. I wasn't going to join in the Order of Prayer since there were so many but there was one Sister extra and the gap was in front of me, so I filled it. I might have been able to do some veil work but I needed to use the restroom instead. When I came out, Steve and Andy were coming from the Celestial Room and it was all over. After I changed back into my street clothes, I checked my blood sugar. It was high enough I didn't need to eat yet. I took photos in the arboretum and outside. I took photos on the way home, too. Steve got me home by 1:50 pm. I changed out of my white shirt. Tess fed me lunch. I had, a hot dog, a cupcake, and tomato soup. I went to my room and updated my web journal. About 2:30 pm, a MetroWest driver, Jenny, came to take me to the podiatrist, the appointment I thought was yesterday. I phoned Elderplace to verify I actually had an appointment there tody, then put my shoes on and packed what I might need and went with Jenny. She drove me down Powell and got me there at 3:15 pm. Marty was there to meet me. The doctor saw me right away, inspecteed my feet, and trimmed my toenails. Stephen the Elderplace driver was waiting when I got out. I sang old songs. We dropped off a lady from Ohio at the Glendoveer Elderplace before taking me home. I was home at 4:34 pm. I caught up my web journal. For supper, I had broccoli, chicken nuggets, baked potatoes, ice cream, and orange juice. I copied my photos to the computer. I checked my online messages. At 7 pm, I tried contacting Elaine by Voice Call, but she was Oiffline. I watched "Warehouse 13".

July 7, 2010, Wednesday,
I got up at 7:45 am. For breakfast, I had three pancakes, an egg, and vanilla yogurt. I folded the egg in one pancake and layered the other two with yogurt. I told Tess about the fish we once had in our centerpiece (now empty). I looked up the photo and made a desktop background of it. I checked my online messages. I napped an hour and a half. At 11:15 am, it was the same temperature in my room as it was outside, 79o. I closed my window. My room never got below 76o last night with my window open. I checked my online messages. For lunch, I had an egg salad sandwich, chili, cookies, and orange juice. I started getting ready for the water exercise class. I soaked my Indiana Jones hat in cold water to keep myself cool. The Elderplace driver, Ralph, showed up before I expected - my fault. He dropped a woman off two blocks from my stop then me. I was an hour early. I got two boiled eggs, a bottle of Mtn Dew, and a bar of dark chocolate from the restaurant. I ate the eggs. I went to the pool office and paid my $2.50. then took my shower. I went to the pool with 45 minutes to wait. There were only a dozen people in the class. Afterwards, I showered and changed into my street clothes. Matt, the Elderplace driver, met me as I was going to the entrance. He loaded me on the bus where another woman was waiting. He dropped her off, then picked up his grandson Hayden from a day care, then drove me home by 5:15 pm. Tes fed me supper: corn, ground beef with onions and something green, a cupcake, a banana, and orange juice. When I got back to my room, it was 83o in my room and 93o outside. I soaked my hat again. I checked my online messages. I watched "Bones". Elaine phoned and we talked for half an hour. She is having problems with her computer, but I couldn't help her. At 9 pm, it was 84o outside and 86.2o in my room. I opened my window. I watched "NCIS".

July 8, 2010, Thursday,
I got up at 7:45 am. It was 79.3o in my room and 64o outside. My blood sugar was 111. For breakfast, I had and egg sandwich, half a muffin, a banana, cream of wheat, milk, and orange juice. I checked my online messages. Ed showed up about 8:40 am. We watched "Mimic 3: Sentinel" and "Dragon Wars" on TV. At 10:45 am, the power blinked out for a moment and I had to reboot my computer. For lunch, I had a chicken sandwich, potato salad, celery, and melon. Ed left at 12:30 pm to get something to eat. I watched "A Sound of Thunder". We watched "In the Name of the King". At 5 pm, it was 87o in my room and 97o outside. Ed left. For supper, I had stew, cheesecake, ice cream, and orange juice. I watched "Reba" and "Eraser". At 9 pm, it was 90o in my room and 90o outside. I opened my window.

July 9, 2010, Friday,
I got up at 7:00 am. It was 81.9o in my room and 61o outside. I checked my online messages. For breakfast, I had an egg sandwich, a banana, cocoa crispies with milk, and orange juice. I shaved and dressed for Elderplace. I soaked my hat and went out in front of Lois' place to wait. Lance picked me up, but Lois had to wait for a second bus. We picked up several people at Chestnut Lane, We got to Elderplace about 9:30 am. I weighed 308.1 lbs. I borrowed Bibles from the library and took them to the Deschutes Room. No one showed for the Bible study, I returned the Bibles to the library. I asked an activity person in the Columbia Room if it would be a problem if I began singing karaoke early. It wasn't. I used their karaoke CDs, ending with three patriotic songs, singing for over an hour. I had the baked salmon for lunch. I soaked my hat in the sink again. Brenda needed to get someone home to O'Hara's. I mentioned that my bus (#23) stopped at O'Hara's and they traded me to Stephen's bus (#17). Stephen took me home first (he had only one other passenger. Stephen got me home by 1:30 pm. It was 77.5o in my room and 86o outside. I updated my web journal and checked my online messages. The DVD/VHS Player I ordered has arrived in Portland. I copied my camera photos to the computer. Larry phoned to remind me that he won't be in down Sunday and that he broke a rib on Monday working in his yard. For supper, I had broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, chicken nuggets, fried rice, chocolate chip cookies, and ice cream. I watched FOX News. At 6:30 pm it was 79.3o in my room and 95o outside. I watched "NCIS" and "Eureka". At 10 pm, I opened my window as the temperature outside was finally lower than the temperature in my room (82.9o). I watched "Star Trek: Next Generation".

July 10, 2010, Saturday,
I got up at 7:40 am. It was 78.8o in my room and 61o outside. For breakfast, I had a scrambled egg sandwich, tater tots, a banana, applesauce, and orange juice. I checked my online messages. I phoned Dan for a ride to church tomorrow and reminded him of the pot luck afterward. I napped fairly comfortably for an hour and a half. It was 75o in my room and 70o outside. For lunch, I had a chicken, lettuce, and tomato sandwich; tomato soup; and orange juice. I watched "Legend of the Seeker" and"Bones". I got a check from Child Support and an Order to Terminate Income Withholding (for Child Support). Elaine and I talked via Video Call for half an hour. For supper, I had stew, cheesecake, and ice cream. Elaine and I talked for another two hours via Video Call. I watched "Secrets of the Mountain".

July 11, 2010, Sunday, Total Solar Eclipse in South Pacific,
I got up at 7:40 am. It was 79.3o in my room and 63o outside. For breakfast, I had an egg sandwich, four doughnut holes, cornmeal mush, milk, and orange juice. I checked my online messages. I napped for two hours. For lunch, I had two tacos, ice cream, and orange juice. I shaved. packed, and dressed for Church. I hooked up the speakers Maria gave me to the TV, providing my own adapter for power. Dan beat me to the front door. At church, I gave Br. Christiansen my monthly donations. In Sacrament, Br. Mumford spoke on the 9th Article of Faith. Br. Monnie of the Stake High Council spoke on the fact of America being the Promised Land, foretold and prepared for the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. In Sunday School we discussed Solomon's wisdom and his foolishness, and how we have gifts of the Spirit that are based on our keeping the commandments. In High Priest Group I was sustained as a Group Instructor. Veraun taught the lesson on Priesthood, what it is, how it is obtained, how to use it, and what blessings flow from it. We had our Munch and Mingle pot luck dinner outside in the covered picnic area. I sat at a table with another family. I let a little girl, "Lexy", take some photos with my camera. Then her brother took two photos of her. I had two sugar cookies, a salad of strawberries, spinach, onions, almonds, and vinegar (very good), steamed rice, a large tamale, and Cream Soda. Dan drove me home by 6:15 pm. It was 81.7o in my room and 77o outside. I updated my web journal. I copied my photos to the computer. I watched "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire". I checked my online messages. Becky is back home from her California trip. I watched "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix".

July 12, 2010, Monday,
I got up at 7:15 am. It was 76.6o in my room and 57o outside. I checked my online messages. For breakfast, I had two pancakes, two eggs, applesauce, and orange juice. I phoned Mom and talked to her for 13 minutes. She told me some about her trip down to see my Aunt Marjorie in San Diego. The missionary Elders came over to play the piano and sing for us. Lunch was a bit late because of that. I had a casserole and Ritz crackers and orange juice. After lunch, I took my wheelchair up Hale St, then down Powell and Burnside. I backed up 1st St to the USBank. I cashed my check and got a roll of quarters and 4 Sacagawea dollars. From there I went to Dairy Queen and had a strawberry sundae. I headed for Cartridge World, but changed my mind and went to Office Depot. There I bought ink cartridges for my Printer, an ergonomic and spill resistant keyboard, and a DVD movie, "Bell, Book, and Candle" starring Jimmy Stewart. From there I went to Dollar Tree where I bought snacks, toiletries, and etc. I called Broadway Taxi and they responded within 35 minutes. I showed the driver how to get to my place and gave him a $3 tip (only $10 total. I was home by 3:15 pm (about 2-1/2 hours). I gave Winda a bottle of Cranberry-Apple cocktail and a dozen face masks (for stopping infections and pollution). In my room, I unpacked, mixed some sugar free lemonade, made out my tithing on the check, hooked up the new keyboard, and updated my web journal. I copied my photos to the computer. For supper, I had garbanzo beans, Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, honeydew melon, apple strudel, and orange juice. I checked my online messages. Erin is back in Coquille, Oregon from her camping trip to Crater Lake with her fiance, bringing photos with her. I took two of her photos of the lake, had the computer stitch them together, then sent the panorama photo back to her. At 6:45 pm, it was 74.7o in my room with the window open and 66o outside. I watched the new DVD movie, "Bell, Book, and Candle". Steve called and will pick me up tomorrow at 9:30 am for the temple.

July 13, 2010, Tuesday,
I got up at 7:35 am. It was 68.7o in my room and 54o outside. I finally got to pull a blanket over myself about 4:30 this morning. I checked my online messages. For breakfast, I had a scrambled egg sandwich, tater tots, and orange juice. I shaved, dressed and packed for the temple. At 9:15 am, Winda brought me my new DVD/VHS player that I have been waiting for. I opened it up and mostly set it up quickly. Steve picked me up at 9:30 then picked up Andy. We ran into some construction delays on the way, but made it to the temple by 10:35 am. I changed my clothes, got a name, and went to the chapel. Steve wheeled me to the endowment room on the 2nd floor. There were 13 patrons in our session: 6 men and 7 women. I took part in the Order of Prayer. After going through the veil, they said they didn't need me as a veil workier, so I went to the Celestial Room and waited for Andy and Steve, who came in shortly after. We took I-5 and I-85 home before 2 pm. Ed was there. I finished connecting my DVD/VHJS player. Then Ed and I watched part of my "Home Movie 1" tape. Then we watched "The Buccaneer" on VHS. Ed and I went to Cleary's (122nd & Glisan) where I treated him to dinner. He had the Meat Loaf special and I had two Pork Chops. We both also had green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, and corn chowder. With tip, it was only $25. It's looking like they are about done fixing Kane Street (257th). Back at home, Ed and I watched "Bell, Book, and Candle" on DVD. I updated my web journal and copied my photos to the computer. Ed left at 7:40 pm. I checked my online messages. I watched "Bones", "Warehouse 13", and "Covert Affairs".
