MARCH 2010

On March 1, 2010, Monday,
I got up at 7:45 am. At breakfast, Winda learned that I needed to eat in bed. I ate all my breakfast, egg in an English muffin, apple slices, and orange juice. At 9 am, I phoned Sana and told her my situation, leaving a voice mail. She called back before 10 am and we discussed it. She asked me to try standing, and to my surprise, I did it briefly. She wants me to try Tylenol, so I took my last one. For lunch, I had apple slices, a little chesse soup, and orange juice. Later, Winda ordered a new supply of Tylenol and baby aspirin for me. I watched "Little House on the Prairie" and "Becker". For supper, I had beef stew, a banana, apple pie, and ice cream. I watched "Stargate Atlantis", "Stargate SG-1", and "Bones".

On March 2, 2010, Tuesday,
I got up at 7:45 am. The pain in my leg was better, and I could move my left leg more easily. For breakfast, I had two runny eggs in a large bagel, a strip of bacon, and orange slices. I checked my online messages.
Just learned from FOX News:
The Chilean earthquake on Saturday (according to NASA) has changed the tilt of the Earth's axis (by about 3 inches) and shortened the length of the day (by 1.28 microsonds).
Scientists believe other quakes, such as the 2004 9.1-magnitude earthquake in Sumatra, have also decreased the Earth's day. That quake is believed to have shortened it by 6.8 microseconds, and altered the axis by nearly 7 inches.
An atheist group is swapping porn for religious texts on a University of Texas campus.

I tried sleeping with no success. For lunch I had a tuna salad sandwich and macaroni salad. I watched "CSI", "Primeval", and "M*A*S*H". The second snow so far this Winter, the first happened on Dec 29th. I took photos from the front porch. I copied my photos to the computer. I listened to a video from Cosmicfingerprints.com. I watched "Glenn Beck". Winda brought me another package: my 16GB SD card and 100 blank 4GB DVD disks. I copied photos from 2009 to DVDs. My SD card does not work in my camera or my Pocket PC, probably a memory limit for them. It works fine with my computer. I copied my web files and my journal to the new SD card. I found that the 2 GB SD card is missing from my Pocket PC. I checked my online messages. For supper, I had beets, corn, potatoes, fried chicken, and ice cream cake. I made sure I had everything together that I would need at Elderplace. Torian picked me up about 8:40 am. At Elderplace, I weighed 303.2 lbs. I went to the McKenzie Room for cocoa, but it took them too long so I had a diet Pepsi and took a Tylenol. I went to the Deschutes Room for Lisa's Discussion Group. An aide took my vitals. My blood pressure was 124/78. I went to the Sandy Room to sing karaoke, but was called upstairs to the clinic. Both Sana, my nurse, and Dr. Tierney checked out my knees. They recommended I try stopping the Tylenol. I am to try to get a bathing suit. Exercise and knee braces were also discussed. When I got back to the Sandy Room my meal was already served, fish. On Sodahead, I added Question #150: "If we have a Heavenly Father, do we also have a Heavenly Mother?" I watched "The Colbert Report" and FOX News. For lunch, I had a boiled egg, three oreo cookies, and a vegetable-noodle soup. I connected with my daughter on Sodahead. I hadn't know her handle or avatar - now I do. I continued watching FOX News. The Progressives in government are trying everything but reason to get votes for the Obama Healthcare Plan, which oddly doesn't seem to be what Obama tells us it is. For supper, I had broccoli, tofu, peas, cake, and a banana. I phoned Larry about going to the temple tomorrow. He said we'd leave about 10 am. I watched "The O'Reilly Factor", "8 Simple Rules", and "Bones".

On March 16, 2010, Tuesday,

For breakfast, I had two waffles, scrambled eggs, tater tots, a banana, and applesauce. I shaved, trimmed my hair, put hair gel on my hair, and combed it. I dressed and packed for the temple. I took some photos from the front porch. Steve (driving), Larry, and Andy picked me up just before 10 am. We got to the temple about 10:45 am. Because I had all my temple clothing, I went straight to the locker room to change. I got my New Name and then Larry pushed me up to the second floor to our endowment session room. There were 21 patrons in our session. It all went smoothly, and after I went through the veil, I brought Larry through. I didn't make any mistakes, although I hesitated once at the beginning. Steve had things to do elsewhere so we didn't dally in the Celestial Room. I changed back into my street clothes and took some photos outside the temple while Steve brought the car up. I ate an English muffin on the way home. He dropped Andy off first, then me. I was home before 2 pm. There was a package on my bed. It was not the white support socks that I thought it was, but my Tylenol refill. I took my shoes off and changed out of my white shirt and tie. I attached a wooden shamrock to my straw hat and took my wheelchair to Fred Meyer. I took photos along the way, while there, and on my way back. They have cleared the parking lot between me and the store so I was able to go straight through. I bought two boxes of ginger snaps, a can of mixed nuts, and four boxes of breakffast bars. Winda passed me about two blocks from home (both of us on a return trip). I was gone less than an hour and a half. That may be a record for me, but then I didn't spend too long at the store. I copied my photos to the computer. Winda brought me my mail; I got my white support socks. I tried a pair on. They seem to fit well and don't quite come up behind my knees like the black ones do. I put a CD of Irish songs (for St. Patty's Day) and played it with Windows Media Player. I watched FOX News commentary on Bret Baier's interview with President Obama. Apparently, he didn't really answer many of the questions. For supper, I had a 6" sub sandwich (tuna), macaroni salad, and apple slices. I watched "The O'Reilly Factor", "Hannity", and "On the Record". I moved the 2008, 2009, and 2010 web photos into separate folders respectively, and edited the pages that called for them. I found my upper arms were sore from the exercise I gave them today.

On March 18, 2010, Thursday,
I didn't get to sleep at all until sometime after midnight. I slept on and off after that until I woke to my alarm. I got up at 7:40 am. I checked my online messages. On Sodahead, I added Question #152: "Slaves are provided for by their masters. Free men fend for themselves and their families. Which will you be?" I also added Question #153: "What are our public servants thinking?" For lunch, I had an egg salad sandwich and macaroni salad. Representative Peter DeFazio, a Democrat from Oregon, had said he would vote against the Healthcare bill but has changed and said he will vote for it. I listened to Obama's speech to the House Democrats. I napped until 4:20 pm. I checked my online messages. For supper, I had a cheeseburger, fries, and mandarin oranges. On March 21, 2010, Sunday, Divorced 9 years,
I got up at 6:15 am because I couldn't sleep. Last of all, I was thinking about the fact that I'm out of Glipizide, one of my diabetic medicines. I only take half a pill a day, a very small dose, and I wonder how important it is. I checked my medications. The new order should have been sent out by Saturday. I am currently taking 20-1/2 pills each day, not counting the 6 Tylenol I am taking for my knee. I checked my online messages. I tried napping, but began imagining a conversation between Noah and a passer-by early on in the building of the Ark:
Passer-by: "What are you building there?"
   Noah: "An ark."
Passer-by: "You mean like a box?"
   Noah: "Basically, yes."
Passer-by: "What would you put in a box that size?"
Noah: "A little bit of everything."
Passer-by: "Well, it's certainly the right size for that, but why are you doing that?"
Noah: "The LORD is going to send a Flood to wash away the wickedness of mankind. I am doing this according to His instructions to save myself and my family."

I added a blog about the dream on Sodahead and asked, "The LORD is returning soon, to burn off the wickedness of mankind this time. How is your ark coming along? Will you and your family be ready and safe?"
For breakfast I had an egg sandwich, and English muffin, Cheerios, and apple slices. I listened to FOX News. I remade my bed with clean bedding. I shaved. I watched live CSPAN in the House of Representatives. The heard discussion of Rep. Ryan (R) who claimed that the Healthcare bill would increase the deficit and would kill jobs and would force everybody to buy insurance unconstitutionally. For lunch, I had a peanut butter sandwich and some chowder. I dressed for Church. Rep. Stupak (D) announced he had gotten an agreement with Pres. Obama to sign an executive order insuring that federal funds would not be used to pay for abortions, allowing Stupak to vote Yes on the healthcare bill. I went out on the front porch to wait for Larry. He picked me up about 1:30 pm. I sat next to Sister Russell. I had forgotten to bring DVDs for her. Sacrament was good, but I forgot to bring anything to take notes with. A young man spoke on not having piercings or tattoos. Sister Woolner spoke on Having an Eternal Family. The choir sang "I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked". Brother Jensen spoke on putting others before our own wants. After Sacrament, Br. Card on behalf of the bishopric took me aside and asked me how I felt about a calling as a Ward Single Adult Representative. I'm not sure if I was actually called, but I think so. If I am set apart, I will know for sure. Sunday School was on the life of Joseph, son of Jacob. I led the priesthood discussion on The Fall of Adam and Eve. Larry had an interview after church. I watched FOX News and witnessed President Obama signing the Healthcare Bill. He used 20 different pens to sign his name. I noticed he is left-handed. A number of States have filed a lawsuit against the new law as being unconstitutional. At 10:12 am, a physical therapist from Elderplace phoned and wanted to check out my knee, but I told him I was being picked up for my foot doctor appointment. While I was still speaking the Metro West van pulled up. The driver provided foot rests for my chair and got me to my appointment on time. An aide clipped my nails and put lotion on my feet. The Doctor said my feet were looking pretty good, but probably it was because I haven't been using them. An Elderplace driver got me home by 12:13 pm. For lunch, I had a ham sandwich, a cupcake, and pasta salad. I checked my online messages. I napped until I woke from a dream where I was on a jungle beach with Moray eels in the water. I was visited by a State Ombudsman (a woman) who asked me about my care here at Winda's. Immediately after that, I was visited by our local missionaries, to whom I sort of told my life story. They shared a scripture and I closed in prayer, asking a blessing of physical strength and spiritual support for them. I checked my online messages. For supper, I had potato salad, cucumber slices, pumpkin pie, and ice cream. I added two more Sodahead Questions regarding President Obama's signing of the new health care law:
Q#157: Which is more Presidential?
Q#158: Is this a legal signature?

I got up at 7:35 am. For breakfast, I had an egg sandwich, cream of wheat, and a banana. I packed for Elderplace. I checked my online messages. Torian picked me up for Elderplace. I weighed 302.7 lbs. I went to the McKenzie Room and began decorating a bookmark. I got a cup of cocoa, and then Joe the Physical Therapist came and took me upstairs. He checked out my knees and had me walk with a walker. I was able to do more than I thought. He said I had degenerative kneecaps. He put ice packs on both knees for 15 minutes. He recommended:
1. Use cushion in my wheelchair.
2. Use ice after activity (15 minutes).
3. Moderate activity.
4. Wear knee braces.
5. Set up for pool exercise progam in mid-April.
I could not find Lisa's Discussion Group. I went to the Sandy Room and sang karaoke. Jeane had her granddaughter with her. Ed showed up and had lunch with me. He had the chicken and I had the fish. Navin drove me home by 2:30 pm. Ed was already there. I got the rest of my meds ready. I removed my shoes and socks and put on my knee braces. I updated my web journal and copied my photos to the computer. We watched FOX News Channel. For supper, I had fried green beans, potato salad, fried chicken, a donut, and ice cream. I continued watching FOX News Channel. Ed left at 6:15 pm. I watched "Bones" and "NCIS".

On March 27, 2010, Saturday,
I slept trough two points in the night when I should have taken Tylenol. I finally woke and took one at 5 am. I phoned John to verify my ride for church. I shaved, packed my bag, showered, and dressed for church. I read Exodus 1-3. For lunch, I had half a ham and cheese sandwich, two cookies, and soup. I discovered a big dark spot on my shirt pocket and had to change shirts. I went out on the porch to wait for John. It began sprinkling before he came. At Church the Bishop asked me if Br. Card had talked to me, and if it was OK for him to ask me to stand up to be sustained. I joined the choir in practicing for Easter. In Fast and Testimony meeting, I was sustained as Ward Single Adult Representative. In Sunday School, we continued discussing the life of Joseph. In Priesthood, we had a lesson on a talk by Thomas S. Monson, "Have You Done Any Good Today?" Afterward, I went to the Bishop's office where Br. Card and he set me apart for my new calling. Br. Card gave me a blessing for my effectiveness in creating activities for the Single Adults, and for my health and strength. John and I waited with Phyllis whose Tri-Met Lift ride (a cab, it turned out) was a half hour late. John got me home by 6:00 pm. For lunch I had chili, a banana, and two cookies. I rebuilt my bed so that the head is not higher than the foot (rather lower than the foot, though my pillows will still raise my head) and the mattress won't slide over the foot of the bed. This is NOT Snow, it's Hail (an hour later)

On March 31, 2010, Wednesday,
I got up at 5:55 am, thinking about what a Class II Device mentioned in the health care law is. I checked my online messages. I researched the Health Care Bill and the meaning of the device classes and found no requirement to have an RFID chip implanted in everyone. It would have been Draconic of our government to have done so without telling the People. I napped and got up again at 7:45 am. For breakfast, I had an egg sandwich and Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal. I moved the mirror to the wall between the window and the fish tank. I put in an audio scripture CD and began listening to it with Real Player. In the middle of Chapter 4, the power in the house went out briefly. I restarted the computer and reset the television. I continued listening to the Scriptures. I listened through Chapter 31 of Genesis. For lunch, I had half a ham and cheese sandwich, macaroni salad, and a banana. I continued listening to the recording of Genesis through the last chapter. I watched "Glenn Beck" with judge Napolitano in Glenn's place. I added a blog on Sodahead about Civil Defense. I watched "Merlin and the War of the Dragons". I was feeling light-headed and sweating. I checked my blood sugar. It was 65. I ate some Easter candy to bring it up again. I noticed it looked like snow outside, but found it was just an awful lot of hail that was still there from a downpour I had heard at 4 pm. For supper, I had some ground beef, a fish filet, frozen grapes, chocolate cake, and a banana. I watched "O'Reilly Factor", "Hannity", "Bones", and "NCIS".
