   What Is Truth?

What Is Truth?

“What is Truth?”, asked Pilate then,
And still it echoes 'round.
For Truth is what we all must find,
And share it, once it's found.

The Mind and the Will of God are Truth
For only He knows all.
What we may get must come from Him,
E'en before the Fall.

In the Garden, Adam knew
Exactly, what his fate
Would be, if he and Eve should eat
What Satan used as bait.

It seems ironic, looking back,
To see that such a Lie
Was needed to show Truth as Truth -
It makes us all to cry.

The Savior at the Fall began
to mend the bridge that broke.
He sent angels with His word
Who loving counsel spoke.

They taught repentance, faith, and hope,
And sacrifices, too.
And taught how as their lamb did die,
God's Son would, bleeding, too.

And how they two should keep His words,
And teach them to their sons.
And staying faithful, they'd return
To Father when they're done.

But some were faithful, most were not,
And when the good had passed,
God sent His Flood to cleanse the Earth,
Sparing Noah from His blast.

And though Noah had the Truth of God,
Soon men refused to hear -
Preferring to do their own thing -
At God's Truth they did sneer.

But Abraham received the Truth
From God, who was his Friend.
And Jacob, too, now Israel,
On God's Truth did depend.

God showed the Truth in Pharaoh's dream,
But Pharaoh could not see,
'Til Joseph showed that God did know
The future 'fore it be.

Such men of Truth, called in the Camp,
Were leaders who would serve,
Holding the Truth in righteousness,
And ne'er from it to swerve.

But Israel's people were afraid
To face the Living God.
And so a priesthood was bestowed,
To do what they would not.

And so a man would take a sheep,
or what he might afford.
And priests would take it on his part
And give it to the Lord.

And so the Truth was symbolized,
Representing One to come.
So some would see the meaning clear
While others' hearts stayed numb.

And in their lives and by their acts
They represent us all.
We cannot blame them, for we too
Have been this way at times.

So all their struggles, tests and trials,
Are writ for us to learn
What not to do, and what to do,
How we to God may turn.

Thus in the predetermined Time,
Which God had seen in Truth,
God sent His Son, His Image True,
To light the sons of Earth.

But sadly, there were still but few
With eyes, and ears to heed.
But those who did, beheld His Truth
And turned, His lambs to feed.

He taught His Father's Truth to men,
All He Himself had seen,
And nourished those who would believe
In pastures ever green.

He taught mere man to talk with God,
His Father, also ours,
And gave them power to act for God
And reach unto the stars.

He did alone His Father's will
And sealed it with His blood.
Disciples blinded by their grief,
Stumbled in their doubt.

But He arose and proved to all
The realness of His Life
That He has promised to all men
Who cease from earthly strife

And follow on the narrow road
The One who is the Way.
He really lives Who once was dead,
So this is what we say.

As it says in Revelation,
The devil angered more,
Pursued the followers of God
And persecuted sore.

The apostles, prophets of the Lord,
He had the wicked slay.
So that the works of God might fail
Among men on that day.

But while the rites of God were lost,
In power and purity,
And doctrine, pure and simple, gone
Into obscurity,

Some words of God were still preserved
To test what God would send
When restoration should appear
And God the world would mend.

And in the meantime, through the Dark,
Whenever they were heard,
These things would heal the heart of man
With every holy word.

Leading them to hope and yearn
For that land far away,
In time or space we may not know,
To go themselves one day.

The Good News now has been restored!
The Truth of God of old.
And promise has been well secured
That this time it will hold.

For we are in the latter-days,
When God, His Kingdom set,
Will roll it forth to fill the world
And crown His Son King yet.

Christ raised His Church once more in Truth,
Not taking from the old,
But making all things new and pure,
His Spirit making bold.

He chose a lad that He might train him
New in all His ways.
Humble and eager to learn God's will
Was Joseph in all his days.

Christ gave them priesthood power to do
Whatever He might ask.
He gave them an organization,
Instructions for routine tasks.

He gave them the sacred ordinances,
Required by the plan of God.
He gave them the laws of the Gospel
The rule of the Iron Rod.

Science is only what meets the eye,
Can be measured, or quantified.
Truth is revealed by God above,
Alone can be relied.

Poor Pilate, then, had no idea
That Truth was no mere whim.
By now he must have learned it's goal
Was even planned for him.
