   A Single's Prayer

A Single's Prayer

May I find along my path
A woman full of grace,
Whose love of God and neighbor too
Has set her heav'n bound pace.

Or may it be that it is I
Who's found along her way.
Oh may I be the virtuous one
She's seeking day by day.

And until then, may I go on
Relying on my Lord,
Listening to the Holy Ghost,
And pondering His Word,

Serving all I come upon,
While representing Him,
Building His true kingdom up
By obedience, not by whim.

Keep me faithful, Lord, and true,
And my sacrifice receive.
“It's not good . . . to be alone.”
These words I do believe.

So stay with me throughout each day
And watch o'er me at night.
Support my hands as Joshua
Helped Moses through the fight.

Light the pathway where my feet
Fall faithfully before,
And guard my back as I move on
To keep me safe and sure.
