My Poems from July 2006
I Love My Flag
I love to see my flag up there, a-flapping in a breeze.
Its Red, White, Blue remind me why I live below at ease.
And why it often calls on us to give our very best.
To keep the freedoms that we have, we lay some sons to rest.
And so, for God and Country, and for our families, too,
We need to hold our values high, our flag, red, white, and blue.
The Red for valor at all times, and courage to defend;
The White for purity of heart that God may blessings send;
The Blue for power to persevere so under law we're free.
These three unite, and all or none, to give us Liberty.
And so, when I upon a pole espy my ensign true,
I lift my heart in mute salute as it comes into view.
I pray that I may qualify to bear that banner brave
And with those self-same virtues may God my spirit save.

Twins Are Special
Twins are special, don't you see?
They come along infrequently.
Whether they are small or tall,
They share their birthday after all.
And though that may be hard to bear,
No hand-me-downs they'll have to wear.
The same wardrobe they might both use,
Instead of everything in twos.
For twins, though they may share a lot.
Their own identity they've got.
And though I like the state I'm in,
It could be fun to be a twin.
