My Poems from May 2006
Mary Magdalene
The lady Mary, she of whom
So many disrespect,
By naming her a prostitute
(It's had a sad effect).
Stood at hand beneath the cross
And witnessed Jesus' grace.
She followed to the burial
And saw the stone in place.
'Twas first to her Our Lord revealed
His resurrected form.
And she who ran to tell the Twelve
What happened on that morn.
The only other fact we know
Is that the Lord had freed
The lady once of devils sore,
And she was free indeed.
We know that she obeyed His word,
To "Come and follow Me."
And so was a disciple true
Who sought Eternity.

There Came a Time
There came a time when all looked bleak.
My heart was broke; my hands were weak.
The things I'd valued most had fled
And made me wish that I were dead.
I saw no future for me then
Among the mortal works of men
And when I told my state to God,
His answer then seemed rather odd
For only silence did I hear;
And though I knew that He was near,
He did not do as I'd expected,
But left me there, still and dejected.
For though my heart could live no more,
It kept on beating as before.
Then I began to understand
That God for me had something planned.
And though I knew not what it was,
I knew I'd do it, just because.
His will for me is what I seek
And though my flesh may be too weak
He'll give me strength to do the task;
For every labor He may ask.
And when my journey's finally through,
I'll find my self has strengthened, too.
So it will suit to own His Name,
He'll bring me to His proper frame
And bring me home to Him at last
To my own mansion, rich and vast,
For all He has, He's promised me
To share for all eternity.
